Protozoa ( leishmania Donovan)
SPREAD
Spread by flies mostly from
infected man to susceptible individual by saliva and nasal secretions
INCUBATION PERIOD
2 weeks to 8 months
CLINICAL FEATURES
1. The
onset of disease may be like fever malaria or just ill health with irregular
attacks of fever
2. Fever
usually is remittent type
3. Splenomegaly
4. Lymphadenopathy
DIAGNOSIS
Presence of leishman
donovani bodies in smear
TREATMENT
1. Chemotherapy
with sodium stiboglaconate or hydroxy stibamidine
2. Conservative
management of anemia
