Definition

It is a condition characterised by an acute inflammation of the trachea.

 

Aetiology

 

1.Measles.

2. Influenza.

3.Common cold.

4.Primary infection of the trachea.

 

Clinical features

1.Fever,headache,bodyache are present due to infection.

2.There is retrosternal pain.

3.Water is not given after linctus codeine.

 

Hay Fever

 

Definition

 

It is a condition characterised by allergic response to a certain type of grass(hay).

 

Clinical features

1.The onset is sudden.

2.There is breathlessness.

3.There is allergic type skin rash.

4.Sneezing,running of nose,and watering of eyes are seen.

5.The conjunctiva and nose are congested.

 

Treatment

1.Symptomatic treatment is given.

2.Antihistamines are given.

3.Adrenaline is given in acute and severe cases.

4.Hydrocortisone is required in extreme cases.
